Will they, won't they? That's been the burning question for quite some time now when it comes to Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt's wedding, with rumours constantly swirling about when the couple would tie the knot. There was constant chatter that the duo may get married this year, after the ruckus ensuing from the coronavirus pandemic settled and the wedding could finally go ahead with almost the kind of normalcy the families would have earlier hoped for. However, BollywoodLife has now exclusively learned from our well-placed sources within the industry that Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt may not tie the know this year, too, and that the wedding may finally take place in 2022. Why? Read on...
So, firstly, tongues started wagging again after both Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were spotted yesterday at ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra's home, leading to massive speculations among fans as well as in the media that the wedding date is fast approaching. Plus, there have been tremendous rumours about Ranbir's mother and sister, Neetu Singh and Riddhima Kapoor, have got together with wedding planners for the big day. However, our source has revealed that they won't be tying the until 2022, with the reason being a.) the start of the preps mean just that and the planning and process for a big-fat Indian wedding, especially one involving two such high-profile families, will go on for a long time; and b.) The couple has decided to not get married until Brahmastra releases.
"Indian weddings are like festivals and the prep doesn't get over till the last minute. The family may have begun the preparations, but there is no shaadi happening this year. Also, the Indian audience still gets excited about stars dating, and believe it or not, it does add buzz to a film's release. So, neither Ranbir or Alia are keen to dampen the buzz of their own movie after having invested so much of time and effort into Brahmastra as once couples get married, our audience tends to lose interest in their relationship. So, they're not likely to be a wedding until after Brahmastra releases."
So, there you have it. Apparently, there's still plenty of time for Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt's wedding to happen.
