There has been a lot of to and fro of late over whether Sunil Grover would be returning to The Kapil Sharma Show. Reports had been doing the rounds that Salman Khan, the producer of The Kapil Sharma Show had turned peacemaker between the eponymous host and Sunil Grover, getting the to bury the hatchet and work together again. Soo after though, new reports surfaced dismissing the earlier ones, with a source close to both Sunil and the sketch-comedy show singing another tune.
"It is really unfair to take away the appreciation Sunil Grover got for his performance in his recent web series by pushing stories about a Kapil Sharma show. Grover has not received any phone call from Salman Khan asking him to return to the show," revealed said source to ETimes.
So, what's the truth and what's hearsay? Well, BollywoodLife got in touch with its own source close to Sunil Grover, and we've finally got what can be taken as something as close to the facts as possible. "It is amusing how every now and then there are reports that someone or the other has called him (Sunil) when there is no truth to it. There are no such discussions going on," disclosed our well-placed industry insider.
Opening up about Sunil Grover's possible return to his erstwhile friend Kapil Sharma's flagship show in the near future, our source added, "Everything else aside, Sunil wants to take a break from doing comedy. He wants to show the audience what he is capable of as an actor and win them with his versatility this time. While playing Gutthi (his signature character of a transvestite on The Kapil Sharma Show) gave him a lot of love and popularity, he found himself getting restricted to one genre, whereas he is capable of so much more. And since it is a comedy show, returning to it anytime soon doesn't fit in his plans right now."
Well, there you have it. We hope all the speculations can finally be out to a rest now, unless either or all of Sunil Grover or Kapil Sharma or Salman Khan themselves come up with a contradictory statement, in which case it'd no longer be mere speculation.
