Throwback Thursday: When Ranbir Kapoor lost his cool on Anushka Sharma for slapping him hard in front of the entire crew

Those who have seen Karan Johar's directorial, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, might easily recall the hilarious scene between Ranbir Kapoor aka Ayan and Anushka Sharma aka Alizeh when Ayan's girlfriend Lisa Haydon and Alizeh's boyfriend Imran Abbas are caught making out in the toilet. In the scene, Ayan cries profusely over Lisa's infidelity and instead of consoling Ayan, Alizeh slaps him hard to stop him from overreacting. But many might not know the fact that Anushka had whacked Ranbir so hard that it had left the latter fuming on the sets despite them being the closest of friends.

While filming the scene, Anushka, who was supposed to slap Ranbir, ended up slapping him hard thrice. In the BTS video shared by the makers of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Anushka and Ranbir were seen talking about the particular incident. The two had gotten into a minor argument on the sets. Ranbir reprimanded Anushka and was heard saying, "There's a limit to it."

Looking visibly upset, Ranbir went on to add, "It's not a joke." To which, a visibly annoyed Anushka asked Ranbir rhetorically if she did it on purpose. Ranbir then reiterated that he had asked her not to slap him hard. Anushka questioned if he was really upset and Ranbir said he was. After a heated exchange of words, Anushka apologised to Ranbir putting an end to the argument.

"She whacked me once, she whacked me twice. Because she is a very organic actor you know. She is someone who is really in the moment and she wants to give a very true performance. So she whacked me again," Ranbir had said in the video.

Take a look.

On the work front, Ranbir will be seen in Ayan Mukerji's upcoming ambitious film, Brahmastra, which is being made in 3 parts. He will share screen with his real life girlfriend Alia Bhatt for the first time. It also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna in pivotal roles. His next release is Shamshera. The Karan Malhotra film is an action drama co-starring Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor, and is produced by Yash Raj Films.

Anushka, on the other hand, welcomed her daughter Vamika with her cricketer husband Virat Kohli. Her last release was Aanand L Rai's Zero opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Last year, her production Clean Slate Flimz ventured into the OTT space with Bulbbul and Paatal Lok, and had become massive hits on OTT platforms. Previously, she has produced films such as NH10, Pari and Phillauri. She has now returned to work after 3 months of childbirth.
