Over the past few months, several Bollywood celebrities like Sara Ali Khan, Disha Patani, Tiger Shroff, Janhvi Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt among others headed to the Maldives for a vacation and couldn't resist themselves from flooding the social media with their exotic holiday pictures. While their fans went gaga over their beach photos, many people blasted them for being insensitive and showing off their privileged life when people across the country are fighting for their basic needs while battling the Covid-19 pandemic. And now, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has lashed out at celebs for having no shame while sharing their exotic pictures.
"These entertainment celebrities posting vacation pictures at a time when the world is reeling under the worst recession. ...Logon ke pass khana nahin hai aur aap paise phenk rahe ho. Kuch toh sharm karo," Nawazuddin told Bollywood Hungama in an interview.
He further said, "But what else will they (celebs) talk about? Acting? They will run out of steam in two minutes. In logon ne Maldives ko tamasaha bana rakha hai. I don't know what their arrangement is with the tourism industry. But for the sake of humanity, please keep these vacations to yourself. There is suffering everywhere. The cases of Covid are multiplying. Have a heart. Please don't taunt those who are suffering. As a community we entertainers in India need to grow up." He added that he is currently in his hometown Budhana with his family and called it his Maldives while dismissing the possibility of him heading to the nation of islands for a vacation.
Earlier, Amit Sadh blasted the celebs saying that 'the privileged lot should be more sensitive' at this time, and not rub their privilege in people's faces.' In a recent post, he informed fans that he is leaving social media for good. In a long note, the actor said that in these tough times of pandemic, he doesn't feel right about spamming people with trivial posts.
