Vijay Deverakonda is one of the most loved actors in the country. He rose to fame with Yevada Subramanyam and delivered his first hit Pelli Choopulu which went on to win several awards. However, the most loved character portrayed by Vijay Deverakonda happens to be Arjun Reddy. His next is Liger, a pan India project starring Ananya Panday, Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, Makarand Deshpande to name a few. We got in touch with Vijay Deverakonda for a little t te- -t te session. We asked him some interesting questions about his films and his love for fans and more.
The Geetha Govindam actor is very close to his mother. His posts often leave us gushing over the mother-sons (Vijay, Anand) trio. As today happens to be Women's day, we had a chance to asked some questions to Vijay involving his mother. The way he answered them had us gushing over him all over again. Check out the excerpts from our interview below:
Which is the first film that you saw with your mom in the theatres?
Any Rajnikanth or a Chiranjeevi film. I would have gone to theatres with my whole fam, and with mom along and would have watched probably a Rajnikanth or a Chiranjeevi starrer film.
Your favourite dish cooked by your mother?
She makes incredible Dal and Roti.
Your first gift for your mom?
I think when I was in the third grade. My mum and dad had gone out. Me and my younger brother decided to clean the whole house. He was in the first grade and I was in the third. We cleaned up the house and made a greeting card with some pictures and hearts and wrote, 'I Love you'. She started crying when she saw it. I didn't understand what made her cry. I don't think we understood the concept of happy tears then. It made her emotional. So, that's my first memory of gifting something to her.
Was Vijay a naughty kid or a well-mannered kid?
I think I was a really nice kid and very easy to be with. And mostly, oldest children take up the responsibility. They are always treated as the big guys. Even though I was six and had a 4-year-old brother, I had to go to the shop. I had to sit alone in the bus because my mum and dad would have to sit with my younger brother. I was the oldest kid, so the responsibility fell on my shoulder really early; like to take care of your younger brother in school and stuff. So, yeah, I was a well-behaved kid.
Your mother's favourite film starring you.
I don't think she watches the film. I think she is just looking at me in the film. I don't think she knows any of the stories. She's too much in love with her kid, yeah, she is too much in love with me.
Does she nag you like every mother to get married?
No, in fact, my parents are extremely chilled out as far as these things are concerned. They know I am responsible, and they know that I know what I am doing. So, they let me make my decisions, whatever it may be.
We asked Vijay who has been into philanthropic work too about the growing injustice against women. Vijay's fans are inspired by his humility and his charity work. We asked him what message he had for his fans to stop the harassment against women. Expressing his shock, Vijay said, "We are assuming that everything is getting better, maybe. I think we have to educate our children. It's a problem on multiple levels. It's a societal problem. You'll learn a lot from your household, the neighbourhood you live in, the friends you have. So, I think it's everyone's responsibility to educate people around us. It's about time this should stop. It's troubling. I know it may happen in my vicinity, So, I think we need there is a need for greater awareness."
