Yesterday, the makers of Roohi released their next song called Nadiyon Paar which is a remake of Let The Music Play by Shamur. The original song was released in the early 2000s and is still a huge hit amongst the masses. Talking about Nadiyon Paar it essentially features Janhvi Kapoor in the music video. While it still has the groovy beats in the music the original still has a hangover over the masses. Also, the choreography of Nadiyon Paar was too bland to give you the feel of grooving. While Janhvi Kapoor did her best job, the choreography (except for the start and the hook-step) and the additional music kinda killed the feel of original classic hit. And now, Sona Mohapatra has slammed the makers of the song. Sona Mohapatra took to her Twitter handle and called out musicians remaking old hits rather than backing new talents.
Sona Mohapatra said, "The sorry saga of remixing songs in Bollywood continues, the message that they put out is clear - we have no need or respect for original creators, creation, music composers, lyricists even singers. What it also says is that we have no confidence, spine, guts to back the new." she went on to add, "The last decade has seen the worst of this state of fear & lack of faith in the creation of new Music in Bollywood.I laud the rare few exceptions who continue to believe in our unique legacy of cinematic musicals,where the language of music was so key in taking forward narratives." Several people supported Sona while there were some who called her out for singing songs inspired by a few old songs. Sona replied to them in a savage manner. Sona in her tweets said that she has been making her own songs under the label of Om Grown Music through her hard-earned money has turned down several such remake songs for the sake of just staying in Bollywood.
Earlier, Sachin-Jigar had opened up on making Nadiyon Paar, they told IANS, "'Let the music play' is a cult tune, and the opportunity to present this song to a new generation was irresistible! 'Nadiyon Paar' absorbs the elements that made the original so special and sprinkles a bit of Roohi's magic, to bring that extra tadka."
