From Haathi Mere Saathi to Bunty Aur Babli 2: 5 films that have again been postponed due to the 2nd COVID-19 wave

After theatres reopened, a slew of Bollywood movies were lined up for the release. The producers of big ticket movies like Roohi, Mumbai Saga, Saina and Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar put up a brave front and decided to screen their movies in theatres. Though the box office collection of the first was reasonable given the circumstance, the second, barely passed muster while the last two registered disastrous box office numbers, it was being considered as baby steps towards a better tomorrow for the film industry. But, owing to the fresh rise in COVID -19 cases across the country, the release dates of films like Bunty Aur Babli 2, Haathi Mere Saathi and others have again been postponed.

Haathi Mere Saathi

Rana Daggubati's ambitious jungle adventure drama, Haathi Mere Saathi, which was set to release on March 26, has been postponed due to rising coronavirus cases. However, the film's Tamil and Telugu versions, Kaadan and Aranya, released on their scheduled dates. However, the decision of releasing Kaadan and Aranya can have adverse effects, too, feels certain trade analysts.

Bunty Aur Babli 2

The release date of Rani Mukerji and Saif Ali Khan starrer Bunty Aur Babli 2 has also been postponed owing to a fresh rise in COVID-19 infections. The film was earlier slated to hit theatres on April 23. A new release date for the film is yet to be announced.

D Company

Ram Gopal Varma's D Company has also been postponed. The filmmaker had tweeted, informing his fans about the update. "Due to the sudden severe Covid rise in many parts of the country and also amid continuous news of new lockdowns, we at SPARK decided to postpone the release of D COMPANY ..A new date will be announced ASAP #DCompany @SparkSagar1," RGV wrote.

Flight

The action thriller film, Flight, starring Mohit Chadda in the lead, was slated to release on March 19. However, it got postponed, but not because of COVID-19 restrictions. The makers decided to push the film's release date to April 2 since they wished to give it a good opening weekend. The film is directed by debutant Suraj Josh. It also features Pavan Malhotra, Zakir Hussain, Viveck Vaswani, Shibani Bedi, Pritam Singh, and others in supporting roles.

No Means No

No Means No was scheduled to release on March 22. But due to coronavirus restrictions, the release date has now been pushed to November 5, 2021. No Means No is a cross-genre Indo-Polish film. It tells the story of an East Indian man falling in love after traveling to Poland to compete in a skiing championship. It stars debutant Dhruv Verma along with Gulshan Grover, Natalia Bak, Nazia Hussain, Milind Joshi and others.
