Soorarai Pottru is one of the most loved regional films of recent times. Suriya and Aparna Balamurali starrer drama film is helmed by Sudha Konagaraj. And it's a very proud moment for the whole team as it is the only Indian feature film that's running for the Oscars 2021. Yes, you read that right. As per the reports, Soorarai Pottru has been nominated in multiple categories. From Best Actor to Best Film and it is being reported that Soorarai Pottru has even found a place for nominations in the Best Director and Best Actress categories. Well, this is indeed a proud moment for the whole team and Indians.
Rajsekar Pandian of 2D Entertainment tweeted out heaping praises on the whole team of Soorarai Pottru. Interestingly, Soorarai Pottru is one of the 366 films that's racing for Oscars 2021. Yes, quite a remarkable feat, don't you think? Suriya has been very emotionally attached to Soorarai Pottru and the making of this wonderful film. He had earlier said in an interview, "All of my earlier characters are reel. But this character is about a person who has lived his life and is a very humble man. He is a real-life hero, who had a dream to make it big, and he did. With all the complexities that are there in India, he had to overcome everything to be an airline owner and which is not an easy thing. He literally changed the face of India."
Elaborating on the story of Soorarai Pottru, Suriya had said, "We are telling the story about a person who has achieved his dreams and made it big, all by himself. It is an inspiration for every common man, irrespective of the background they are born in. There cannot be a reason, that your dreams can't be fulfilled, and stories like these are important to be shared with the masses. Just the determination and one has to combat all the challenges to make it happen, which is why we want to tell the story."
Talking about Oscars 2021, the nomination voting will begin from 5th March 2021 and will continue till 10th March. The final list of Oscar nominations will be announced on 15th March 2021. The final voting for Oscars 2021 will begin on 15th April and continue till the 20th of the same month. Oscars will be held on 25th April 2021. The 93rd Oscars will be televised live on ABC and in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.
