A homophobic insult was recently made on Bigg Boss 14. During the New Year celebrations, Arshi Khan said something and people started lauding her as the kingmaker. Then, Rahul Vaidya and Aly Goni started shouting 'Chakka Chakka', to indicate that she had made a great comment. While it is unclear if it was said in a condescending manner, Vikas Gupta had a smirk on his face when he heard it. One could sense that he was upset. On the show, Vikas has spoken about how his sexual orientation caused a rift between him and his family members. His mother has denied these claims though. Not the first time, but Vikas was trolled about his sexuality even in season 11. But, he would get up and fight against it.
We had asked fans if Salman Khan should have called out Rahul Vaidya and Aly Goni for their alleged homophobic 'chakka' comment on Vikas Gupta. And majority of the fans have voted in Vikas' favour. It seems some people on Bigg Boss 14 are still quite regressive. While this season has relatively been a clean one with the contestants being extremely well behaved inside the house, it is still not great. Earlier, Shehzad Deol had referred to Nishant Singh Malkhani as chakka in the heat of the moment in the initial episodes. However, Rubina Dilaik and Jasmin Bhasin had made him apologize then and there. They had also told Shehzad Deol to apologize to the LGBTQ community as it was in distaste. For the uninitiated, Rubina has played a transgender on her show, Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki.
It can be recalled that, last year, Asim Riaz had said something about Aloe Vera and many people had taken a bit of an offence. Madhurima Tuli had also called Vishal Aditya Singh 'hijra' during a dirty fight. Kamya Panjabi had slammed Madhurima for her comment. Even in Bigg Boss 13, Sreesanth had made a distasteful remark on Rohit Suchanti, which was slammed by many.
On one hand we have people who are really trying hard to avoid regressive comments, but there are still many people who need to stop doing such hurtful things.
