On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, Akshay Kumar announced his upcoming project Ram Setu and while the fans loved the first look of the film, the latest report suggests that the Khiladi of Bollywood had a discussion with UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and has got a go ahead to shoot in the Ayodhya, which is the birthplace of Lord Rama. A source close to the development told Mumbai Mirror, "Set in today's India, it's the journey of the protagonist to discover if the Ram Setu is a myth or reality. Since Akshay and his director, Abhishek Sharma, want to present an accurate depiction, they want to shoot in real locations in the state, including Ayodhya, the birth place of Lord Ram. They want to kick off the film by mid-2021 in UP."
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar was last seen in Laxmii, where he portrayed the character of a transgender. He received tremendous response and even transgender activist Laxmi Narayan Tripathi lauded him. Speaking about it, Akki said, "Her words of appreciation mattered to me. She lauded me for playing the character. There were 100 transgender women. They all stood up and clapped at the end of the film. The ostracisation of the community has been horrific, and it's time we collectively stood up and promoted equality."
The film garnered mind-boggling response on the OTT platform. Sharing his excitement, the actor asserted, "I feel great. I know a lot of critics don't like my films, and I understand it. But my focus is on my audience. I am told it's the biggest opening of my career. The film achieves something pivotal. Having a transgender protagonist normalises and reinforces the rights of the LGBTQ community. Be it with PadMan [2018] or Toilet: Ek Prem Katha [2017] or Mission Mangal [2019], the idea is to do more than just entertain or deliver a box-office success. I want to make a difference."
