This year is finally coming to an end. While we have loads to complain about, we also learned some valuable lessons in the past few months. Though we stopped the normal routine life for a major part of this year, there were releases before, during and after lockdown that were impressive and engaging. This brings us to our yearly tradition of #BLBestof2020, the polls we run for y'all to select the best of the best. While we did not watch all the movies in theatres as the world kinda shifted to the OTT platform, but hey, at least we had something new to watch, didn't we? So, let's see who we have in the nominations for the Best South Actor's poll
Suriya (Soorarai Pottru)
Soorarai Pottru is being said to be one of the best of Suriya. Right from fans to his colleagues and the industry folks, everyone is heaping praises for the South actor for his acting prowess. Soorarai Pottru tells the tale of Needumaran, a hot-headed young man who wants to bring changes in his village. He joins the air force but leaves to find his own airline which could be accessible to one and all. However, starting an airline is not a piece of cake. How he overcomes the obstacles forms the crux of the story. Released on the OTT platform, the film rides high on grit, emotions and ambition.
Fahadh Faasil (Trance)
Trance is a psychological drama film starring Fahadh Faasil. Viju, a small-time motivational speaker is turned into a Godman by two businessmen. His cover blows on live Tv and Viju learns his lessons when a person dies due to his fraudulent ways. What next ensues is how he manages to free himself from the depths of delusions and darkness. Fahadh Faasil earned praises for his performance in the film.
Prithviraj (Ayyappanum Koshiyum)
Ayyappanum Koshiyum is an action-thriller that released earlier this year. It tells the tale of two people, an ex-havildar and a police officer. Prithviraj plays an alcoholic with a raging temper. Biju Menon plays Ayyappan, the police officer. There are ego clashes, heavy action and thrill for sure. The movie was both a critical and commercial success.
Dulquer Salmaan (Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal)
Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal is a fun romantic-heist comedy film starring Dulquer Salmaan, Rakshan, Ritu Varma and Niranjani Ahathian. Dulquer and Rakshan are con artists who get conned by bigger con artists Ritu and Niranjani. Together they make a deal of a final heist only to embark on a life-long adventure. The film was a success at the box office.
Sharwanand (Jaanu)
Jaanu is a romance-drama film starring Sharwanand and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The film is a remake of Trisha and Vijay Sethupathi starrer '96. It follows the tale of two long-separated lovers who come face to face during a reunion party. Sharwanand played Ram to Samantha's Jaanu.
Allu Arjun (Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo)
Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo is one of the biggest hits of the year. Allu Arjun is one massy star and his pairing with Pooja Hegde was just too good. Allu Arjun's film was released on Sankranthi and was a treat for all Allu Arjun-Pooja Hegde fans.
