Malayalam film Jallikattu, helemd by ace Director Lijo Jose Pellissery, has been selected as India's official entry in the International Feature Film category at the Oscars. Among the many congratulatory messages that poured in for the makers, cast and crew of the movie across social media, Kangana Ranaut, too, added a bit, giving her best wishes to the team of Jallikattu. And while that's all well and good, she didn't lose an opportunity (or rather manufactured one) to again take a dig at her adversaries in Bollywood, thus shifting focus away from the movie in question and indirectly making it about herself once again.
Retweeting another tweet mentioning Jallikattu's triumph, Kangana Ranaut commented on it, saying, "All the scrutiny/ bashing Bullydawood gang got is finally yielding some results, Indian films aren't just about 4 film families, movie mafia gang is hiding in their houses and letting juries do their job and congratulations team #Jallikattu ." Revealing why the jury panel selected Jallikattu as India's official entry to the Oscars this year, Rahul Rawail, chairman of the Film Federation of India said, "After viewing many films in many Indian languages we found Jallikattu to satisfy all the requirements for eligibility. It is a film with deep roots in our culture. But it is also a universal story on the dehumanization of mankind when the beast within surfaces. In that sense, it's a story that connects with every culture. It's also technically very sophisticated. Any filmmaker can send his film for consideration. It is their right to do so. We are within our rights to select the film we think most worthy. And this year it was Lijo Jose Pellissery's Jallikattu. We of the jury saw the merits in Jallikattu to make it to the Oscars. The rest will depend on what the competition is."
