What can be said about King Khan Shah Rukh Khan that hasn't already been said before? Arguably the biggest superstar to have been delivered by Indian cinema on a global stage, the Baadshah of Bollywood has seen it all, done it all. And despite not having the best of times in theatres of late (for a considerable while truth be told as his last clean hit was Happy New Year back in 2013), his stardom and love from his legion of fans remain untouched, such is the aura and charisma of this man. That being said, every SRK fan and the actor himself would want the one thing to click again that made him "SRK". Big hit films wherein he essays indelible characters. Well, his upcoming slate promises just that. So, today, on his 55th birthday, we bring you six upcoming Shah Rukh Khan movies (four of which are to be confirmed) guaranteed to make you say, 'Dil Toh Pagal Ho Gaya'.
Pathan
Of all the speculative Shah Rukh films doing the round, this YRF production, set to be directed by Siddharth Anand, has had the most updated as far as development goes. John Abraham is slated to play the villain and SRK's Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express and Happy New Year heroine, Deepika Padukone, seems to have been zeroed in on as the female lead.
Rajkumar Hirani film
Almost two decades in the making (not many know that Shah Rukh was Hirani's first choice for Munna Bhai MBBS), this is the collaboration not only SRK fans, but also every movie buff is waiting for. As is customary for Raju Hirani films, this is slated to be a social satire, revolving around immigration. A source told Mumbai Mirror, "Like all Raju films, it revolves around a serious, globally relevant issue and is treated with gentle humour. The story moves between Punjab and Canada. This guy is jovial, he'll make you laugh and get emotional. Shah Rukh is growing his hair for the part."
Atlee film
Those who are well-versed with Tamil cinema, are waiting for this collaboration to be confirmed even more than that of Shah Rukh with Hirani as they know how in today's times, nobody can balance the aura of a superstar along with a strong plot and larger-than-life albeit believable characters quite like Atlee does. SRK is touted to play a double role of a father and son in this one, making it all the more exciting. Speaking about the movie, a source told Mid-Day, "Unlike those films however, here, the two characters are a generation apart. At the heart of the actioner is the father-son relationship, which is fractured by their polarising worldviews. The father is a senior R&AW agent, who is on a mission to capture his gangster son. Though the premise is similar to that of Ramesh Sippy's Shakti (1982), the stories have nothing further in common."
Raj & DK film
Word is that King Khan has also signed a slick, action-comedy with Raj & DK, the creators of the superhit web series, The Family Man, which the director-duo plans to shoot in exotic locations the world over. Mumbai Mirror quoted a source saying, "SRK has signed the stylish action film that is infused with Raj and DK's brand of quirky humour and will go on the floors next year. It is a space he hasn't explored yet. An international stunt crew will be designing the action in the film."
What's more, Shah Rukh Khan has also been roped in for an extended cameo in the Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, Nagarjuna and Dimple Kapadia starrer, Brahmastra, produced by good friend Karan Johar. And this project has been confirmed.
Love Hostel
Lastly, another SRK project that has been confirmed is one that he's not starring in, but producing, title Love Hostel an edgy thriller, set against the backdrop of a love story, starring Bobby Deol, Sanya Malhotra and Vikrant Massey.
