Sanjay Dutt, the most derided and loved superstar of Bollywood, has never been able to keep himself away from tragedies in his life or shall we just say, they came looking for him. Life has given him many chances, too, after walking him through the toughest challenges. But he never backed down. Sanju Baba wasn't always prepared for the worst, but he kept rising like a pheonix and overcoming every tragic situation in life. It made him more stronger, wiser and kinder person in life.
And when he thought he would live the rest of his life peacefully with wife Manayata Dutt and twins Iqra and Shahraan, destiny had other plans. On August 11, the 61-year-old actor, who was hospitalised a few days before that due to breathing problem and chest discomfort, shared that he was taking a break for medical treatment. Although Dutt or his family members did not reveal anything officially at that point, trade analyst and film industry insider Komal Nahta subsequently confirmed that the actor had been diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer.
It was being reported by several news portals that Sanjay has got merely six months to live. However, it was never the scene. As soon as he was detected with the cancer, he had immediately begun treatment in Mumbai. He recently underwent some tests which has now stated that the actor has responded very well to the cancer treatment and will resume work soon.
But bouncing back in life is not new for our Munna Bhai. From his drug addiction to involvement with the underworld, Sanjay managed to retain his star position in the industry despite being through several ups and downs.
Lost his mother
Sanjay and his father, Sunil Dutt couldn't enjoy the success of Rocky because of the tragic death of his mother Nargis. She lost her battle to pancreatic cancer on May 3, 1981 just four days before his Bollywood debut.
Drug addiction
His mother's death had completely shattered him. He began walking on the path of self-destruction and immersed himself completely into drugs and alcohol. His film career was sinking. His father couldn't see his son fall into the dark pit. He gave him immense emotional support and helped him climb up from the dungeons and revive his film career.
Lost his first wife
Everything had fallen in right place for Sanjay. After tasting massive success of his 1991 film Saajan, romance followed and he tied himself in marriage with actress Richa Sharma (his first wife). Together they had a daughter and named her Trishala. But then, tragedy struck and destroyed his paradise. Richa succumbed to cancer at the age of 32 in 1996.
Mumbai bomb blast
After the death of his first wife, Sanjay tried to bring his life back on track by concentrating on his acting career. He went on to deliver a hit like Khalnayak but trouble was waiting for him at the other end. His name had cropped up in the Mumbai bomb blasts case and was arrested by the police on his arrival in Mumbai. After releasing on bail, he again bounced back strong and delivered hits like Daud and Vastav.
We hope and pray that Sanju comes back from this, too, stronger than ever like he always has.
