Bigg Boss 14 is almost here. It is one of the most anticipated shows on Indian TV. Bigg Boss 13 was a huge it and expectations are high from this season as well. But this time, things might be a bit different. There are certain factors which might affect the popularity of the show which might also result in low TRPs. Let's have a look.
IPL
The Indian Premier League usually begins in the month of May but this year, it got delayed due to Corornavirus. At one point, the authorities were even planning to cancel it. It's been just a few days since the matches started in the UAE, and the excitement is already high. We have seen some close finishes, and the tournament will only get better as we reach the play offs. It is sure to divide the audience and will pose as a huge threat for Bigg Boss.
Negative publicity around Salman Khan
Ever since Sushant Singh Rajput passed away on June 14, many celebs have had to face the wrath of his fans. One such actor is Salman Khan. He has been accused of nepotism and some of his posts on social media got a very bad response. So him hosting Bigg Boss might not please the audience this time. It has also been evident in the couple of polls we conducted among our audience.
Too much engagement on news channel
Sushant Singh Rajput's case is still the main news on news channels. Even the subsequent drug probe has caught the attention of people. Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor were summoned recently. There have been reports of more A-list celebs being summoned in near future. So even this topic might garner more interest than Bigg Boss.

The Coronavirus pandemic has severely impacted the film industry. Theatres are shut since March. While some movies were released directly on OTT platforms, the promotions weren't that much. Many celebs used to visit the Bigg Boss house to promote their films, but this year, it seems the scenario will be different. There might be only a few celebs and star power that might affect attracting eyeballs.
