She described him as a social, self-motivated and a brilliant person. She gave full support to fans seeking a CBI enquiry into his death. After Ankita Lokhande gave a spate of interviews, Rhea Chakraborty lashed out at her asking why is she behaving like a Vidhwa. She said that Ankita was not in touch with her for four years, and had ended up dating a common friend of Sushant and her. She also said that Ankita was living in a flat the EMIs of which were paid by the late actor. Ankita clarified that she was paying from her own savings and even shared bank statements. Rhea said that if she was a control freak, she would have stopped SSR from paying the EMIs.

In the middle of all, Rhea Chakraborty found support from her friends in Bollywood. She was taken into custody by the NCB for procuring drugs for the late actor. Her 'Drug Chats' came to the fore as ED, NCB and CBI got involved in the matter. Shibani Dandekar slammed her as a 'princess of patriarchy' who wants two seconds of fame.
