BTS: Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook REVEAL the mantras of their skyrocketing worldwide success

K-Pop band BTS' has once again made it to the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with their recently released English song, Butter, which is their fourth chart-topping single to date. The upbeat track became the most streamed song in a single day in the history of Spotify, amassing 20.9 million global streams on the first day. The music video of the song set an all-time record of 108.2 million views in 24 hours, and the biggest music video premiere on YouTube with 3.9 million peak concurrents. So how does the BTS manage to pull off such a skyrocketing worldwide success?

"I'm guessing our sincerity reached our audience. We've tried our best to deliver sincere music and performances," V aka Kim Tae-hyung told IANS. To which, J-Hope aka Jung Hoseok added, "And we have always shown our fans all our behind-the-scenes through various contents. I think opening ourselves up without hesitation helped us convey our sincerity."

On the international stage, the year 2020 surely belonged to the South Korean super band. In August 2020, the boy band became the first musicians from their country to top the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, with Dynamite. Later, they also got a Best Pop Duo/Group Performance Grammy nod for their disco-theme track. Though they couldn't bag the winning trophy, the BTS were grateful to have competed against some of the world's best musicians.

With a strong ARMY of fans constantly backing them, the BTS band is generally among the biggest topics of discussion on social media. The septet was also the most streamed Korean artiste and global group last year on Spotify.

"When we go on tour, we get to perform a lot and that helps me improve," Jin aka Kim Seok-jin said. To which, J-Hope, who is Mr. Sunshine of the group and has the trademark intro "I am your Hope, You are my Hope..." added, "I was able to check what I lacked and what I had to pay more attention to."

Crediting new experiences to their growing popularity, V said, "We encounter new things and our stage always gets bigger, so it does give me pressure. However, I tried to expand my mindset so that I don't make mistakes."

For RM, like everyone else, the pandemic has had an impact. "I think the current pandemic situation played a big part because we needed to change, whether we wanted to or not. Thus, during Covid, we were able to release Dynamite, BE and Butter," he pointed out.

Jimin, who was the last member to be finalised in the group and trained only for six months before debut on June 13, 2013, said, "I couldn't really find an answer to what I should do to improve, but if I can find a better direction, I will be able to take a step forward."

Jung Kook, the main vocalist, said he is driven by the constant need to grow and evolve. "I think the biggest factor is that I always feel like I'm lacking and I have the continual ambition to get cooler," he said.

Spilling some beans on how the band members select the title track of a BTS album, RM said, "We usually select the song that best shows the overall message and theme of the album."

Talking about the success of Butter, Jin feels the song is a rage because it works perfectly as "BTS' summer song!" Jung Kook recalls the fun that the band had while shooting it, and attributes that energy to its success.

To sum it for the song, the band and the band's ever-growing aura, Jin said, "I think Butter is special because it encapsulates our charms."
