Powerhouse performer Pankaj Kapur turns a year older today. While he has earned many laurels on the professional front, his personal life was not always a bed of roses. He separated from his first wife Neelima Azim when their son, actor Shahid Kapoor was three. But the actor couple did not let things get nasty. His relationship with his son, Shahid was always a very positive one. The handsome actor had assisted him when he turned 18, and that time helped them revive their relationship. Pankaj Kapur had said, "As Shahid said, it is very difficult to explain. For a father, to separate from his son is not easy. It was a huge emotional loss for me [the last time around] and I started living with the hope that there will come a time when we will come close to each other again. And today, it's a great feeling to sit next to him, see his work or hear him speak and bond with the family."
He spoke about how that time helped them bond on deep level. The two then started going for vacations together. Now, he spends a lot of time with his kids and grandkids. But what is even more heartwarming is how much he loves and adores his bahu Mira Rajput. The two are extremely close. He has spoken about how she has brought them closer as a family. She also calls him the 'Bestest Baba' and says he makes some amazing dishes in the kitchen. Pankaj Kapur has said that he would support Mira Rajput if she decided to make a debut in the world of cinema.
He had told IANS, "My children can do what they want to do. When it comes to this whole category of daughter-in-law, I get a little uncomfortable as I treat her like my daughter. She is a child to me. Why would I have any objections? For me, she can do what she wants to do and I am there to support."
