When we think Mallika Sherawat, the first things that come to mind are her sexy screen image, bikini pics and Cannes appearances. But dig further, and you'll realise it takes a lot more that just oomph for a small-town Haryana girl to cultivate a devil-may-care-attitude and carve her niche in the entertainment world on her own terms. So much so that her attitude and niche takes her all the way to the global stage. And in case you're still finding it difficult to grasp this, then how about we jog your memory a wee bit with one of Mallika Sherawat's bindaas episodes that personifies her badass persona, which also makes for a perfect 'Throwback Thursday' story.
Sometime last year, the Murder siren was slammed on Twitter by one of those self-righteous trolls who take it upon themselves to carry the moral baton of Indian society. The said troll, in all his trolling glory, decided to lecture Mallika in response to her thoughtful tweet on the dastardly Hathras rape case, by commenting: "But the kind of roles you have played in Bollywood movies contradict your statement. Don't you think the kind of message you deliver through your movies also play an important role. Improvement should start from the person who is making the statement first."
Little did he know of the kind of schooling he was in for. In a fitting rebuttal, the actress wrote: "So the movies I act in are an invitation for rape!!! It's mentality like yours that make Indian society regressive for women! If you have a problem with my movies then Don't see them #nocountryforwomen." Mallika Sherawat, being Mallika Sherawat, silenced him well and good in no more than few words, just like it should be done.
