Popular Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee, who plays the main character in the Amazon series 'The Family Man' recently spoke about the fears of those protesting against the show.
For the uninitiated, the trailer of The Family Man season 2 was surrounded by controversies over the depiction of Eelam Tamils. Well, recently, the actor gave his opinion on the same. In an interview with a media portal, Manoj said that many of the team members of 'The Family Man' were Tamilians and did everything possible to showcase their respect towards Tamil culture. He was quoted saying, 'Humare team mein jo main leaders hai, jo lead kar rahe hai iss show ko, khaas kar ke season two ko, yeh zyadatar Tamilians hai (The ones leading our show, especially the second season, are primarily Tamilians). Raj and DK, Samantha (Akkineni), Priyamani, Suman (Kumar), who is the writer Who can be a better person than these guys to safeguard the interests of Tamil people, friends and viewers? I don't think anybody can be better than them. They are the people who have been leading this show, they have created this show and they have done everything possible to show their respect for the Tamil culture and sensibilities'.
The actor requested everyone to watch the show as he said that they will all feel proud of the show. He went on to say that the first season of the show featured many talented Malayalam actors, while in the second season there are Tamil actors who have played amazing roles. Manoj said, 'Please watch this show and you will feel very proud of this show for the fact that it not only tells you a good story, but it also tells you how proud this show and the creators are of the Tamil culture and sensibility.'
The Tamil Nadu government on Monday demanded the Centre to step in and stop the release of the new season. In a letter to Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar, the state government said the second season of the web series depicts the Eelam Tamils in a highly objectionable manner.
The story of The Family Man 2 is about Shrikant Tiwari (Manoj) who is a middle-class family man trying to find a balance between his personal life and his job of being a spy. He will be seen trying to save his country from an attack planned by Raji (Samantha). The Family Man 2 will be released on June 4.
