Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar's upcoming project Prithviraj has received a threat from the Karni Sena over its title. The movie will be a biopic on emperor Prithviraj Chauhan and is directed by Chandraparaksh Dwivedi. Filmmaker Surjeet Singh Rathore, president of the Youth Wing of the Karni Sena has put forward some conditions for the film.
They clearly warned Akshay Kumar and Aditya Chopra that if they do not accept their demand then they will face a situation similar to Sanjay Leela Bhansali during Padmaavat.
Surjeet Singh Rathore shared few clips of new articles on his Instagram page and wrote that the organization respects Akshay Kumar. He even said that Aditya Chopra should respect the last 'Hindu Samrat' and use his name with due respect. He even warned them that they will have to face consequences and YRF would be responsible for all the losses. The three conditions that they have put up are, screening of the film before its release, the film be shown to the Rajput society, and title of the film to have the full name Veer Yoddha Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan.
In an interview with a web portal Rathore said, "How can they keep the title of the film as just Prithviraj when the film is based on the great Prithviraj Chauhan? We want the title to be changed to his full name and give respect to him. If they don't listen to our advice they will have to face the consequences. What happened to Sanjay Leela Bhansali during Padmaavat, the makers of this film will have to be prepared for it, too".
In another post, Surjeet even said that the country and the entire world should be shown Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan's life through this film. He even said that they honor Akshay Kumar and he will be proud to essay the role of Prithviraj Chauhan.
In 2019, Akshay had announced the teaser of the film. He wrote, "Elated to share about my 1st historical film on my birthday!Humbled to have the opportunity to play a hero I look up to for his valor & values- Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan in one of my biggest films #Prithviraj. Producer @yrf ,director #DrChandraprakashDwivedi, releasing Diwali 2020." Due to the pandemic, the movie is slated to release on November 5.
Akshay in a statement said that "It is truly an honour that I will be playing the role of one of the most fearless and courageous kings of India, Prithviraj Chauhan. As a nation, we should always celebrate our heroes and immortalize what they did to propagate the values that Indians lived by. Prithviraj is our attempt to bring to light his valour and daredevilry. Prithviraj was the only person standing in front of a merciless nemesis and the bravery he showed, made him a true Indian hero, an inspiration for generations and a legend. So this announcement coming on my birthday has indeed made it more special for me."
Apart from Akshay, Manushi Chillar, Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Ashutosh Rana, Sakshi Tanwar, Manav Vij and Lalit Tiwari will be seen playing pivotal roles.
