Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez officially call off engagement

Popular singer and actress Jennifer Lopez and former New York Yankees baseball star Alex Rodriguez have parted ways as the couple called off their engagement. The duo, who were in a relationship since 2017, shared a joint-statement about parting ways and said that they will focus on remaining friends. The statement reads, "We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another's children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support." Last month, there were rumours that the duo were heading for a split, to which they issued a joint statement to US media, which reads, "All the reports are inaccurate. We are working through some things."

The duo got engaged in 2019 and earlier this year, JLo revealed that they had to postpone their wedding twice due to COVID-19 crisis. She told Elle, "We postponed the wedding twice. We had planned what we really, really wanted to do, [but] I don't know if we'll be able to re-create that. We cancelled it, and since then we haven't really talked about it. There's no rush. We want to do it right when we can do it."

While Jennifer Lopez is a mother to daughter Emme Maribel Muniz and son Maximilian David Muniz - they are JLo's kids with her ex-husband Marc Anthony, Alex Rodriguez has daughters Natasha and Ella with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis. JLo was married to Ojani Noa (1997 1998), Cris Judd (2001 2003) and Marc Anthony (2004 2014). Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez got engaged in Bahamas in 2019 after dating for two years and bought a a $40 million home in Miami.
