Akshay Kumar-Vaani Kapoor's Bell Bottom to take the OTT route; sold at this steep price? Here's what we know

Due to the pandemic crisis, we have seen many films skipping the theatrical release and taking the digital route. While films like Ludo, Toofan and others among those, the latest film, which might join the list is Akshay Kumar-Vaani Kapoor starrer Bell Bottom. The film is scheduled to hit the screens on May 28 but looking at the current situation, we don't think any film will have a theatrical release at least till the month of July. As per the latest reports, the makers of Bell Bottom have initiated the talks with Disney + Hotstar, who are impressed with the rushes of the film.

While the digital rights of the film were pre-sold to Amazon Prime Video, who had offered Rs 125 crore, the makers are expecting around Rs 15o crore since they directly want to release on OTT platform. The final rounds of talks between the makers and Disney + Hotstar are going through the final process and we might get an official update about it soon.

The story of Bell Bottom is inspired by true events and is written by Aseem Arora and Pervez Shaikhand. The film also stars Huma Qureshi and Lara Dutta in pivotal roles. It is touted to be a very high-end espionage thriller. Akshay Kumar will be portraying a never seen before avatar and the makers are riding high on the content. Akshay Kumar earlier cleared the air that the movie is an original and not a remake of a Kannada movie. As one of the fans asked him on Twitter, 'Remake of Kannada film?' Akshay Kumar replied, '#BellBottom is not a remake of any film, it is an original screenplay inspired by true events.' It is produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh of Pooja Entertainment, in association with Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Nikhil Advani of Emmay Entertainment.
