Vidya Balan opens up on successful marriage with Siddharth Roy Kapur; says, 'Marriage involves a lot of work'

Vidya Balan has been happily married to top producer Siddharth Roy Kapur for eight years now. The couple have stayed together blissfully touching new highs professionally and personally. But the actress admits that marriage involves a lot of work. Talking to ETimes, Vidya Balan said, "Marriage involves a lot of work, I agree because you are living with a person you haven't grown up with. It is so easy for you to take the other person for granted, and that is a terrible thing to happen. And that is when the spark goes away in marriage."

The actress said that it is very easy to take the other person for granted, especially people are living together for a long time. She told the publication, "What I have discovered in these eight years is that the work involved is the effort not to take the other person for granted, and therefore it's been joyous. If you slip up there, it's not as exciting, just becomes mundane. I love the work that is required to be put in to keep the marriage strong and exciting."

The two married in a low key ceremony in 2012. Siddharth Roy Kapur was married twice before, but both the marriages did not work out. It seems it was Karan Johar who arranged a meeting for them. Vidya Balan said she was surprised when he proposed for marriage. She had said earlier, "When Siddharth proposed, I couldn't believe it initially. Since we were together, I knew we would talk marriage at some stage. And then, he popped the question and did not even wait for a reply. It was taken for granted! I could have gone on living without marriage, but I do not believe in live-in relationships because it may be difficult when you want a child. When he proposed, I was like, "Okay, so now we need to talk about it." She is now busy with the movie, Sherni.
