Remixes have been derided faster than they appear these days, and, mind you, they appear quite fast. With the amount of evergreen melodies being reworked and, most of the time, not to the liking of the common public (at least from generations past), remixes have gained an extremely bad rep in the recent past. So, to dig further into this trend and if the flak it receives is justified, we decided to put Divya Khosla Kumar whose label, T-Series, has churned out the most remixes over the past decade on the hot seat. And while some of her justifications do make sense, we were surprised to learn that Asha Bhosle was prone to remix several of her tracks from the 60s during the 90s. Nope, we kid you not.
In an exclusive interview with BollywoodLife, Divya Khosla revealed, , "When the pop phase picked up in the 90s, Asha Bhosleji recreated all her tracks from the 60s, and she got them back in the 90s, and we enjoyed them so much, like I being a 90s kid, I enjoyed it so much because I had not enjoyed songs from the 60s; the 60s generation had enjoyed those songs. So, I feel, this generation should also get a chance to enjoy to old songs because music is universal, it transcends boundaries and it's the only thing that brings hearts closer and can connect people all over the world. Music shouldn't receive any negativity is what I feel because it's an art form and is a very pure art form and this also gives a good platform to a lot of new talent."
"I don't think music should be met with negative reactions as it's a very pious and pure art form and should be enjoyed over and over again, why should a tune only be restricted to the 60s or the 90s? Why can't we make it contemporary and dance to it or sing it or enjoy it? It's not meant to be kept in a museum. When you enjoy it over and over again, it becomes a part of your culture and heritage and it's so beautiful. Like Yaad Piya Ki (her latest remixed hit, Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi, sung be Neha Kakkar) was enjoyed by so many and the original, too, was enjoyed so much. So, I feel it's also a very beautiful tribute to the original in a way, so that's what I feel," added Divya.
