The gorgeous superstar of the entertainment, Deepika Padukone is currently busy with multiple projects, which includes Shakun Batra's project and Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham's Pathan. While the actress will than move Prabhas-Amitabh Bachchan's pan-India film directed by Nag Ashwin, we have the latest update on next project, which is the remake of Hollywood classic, The Intern. While many big stars are in talks to play the Robert De Niro's character in the remake, the latest reports suggests that Badhaai Ho helmer Amit Sharma is helming this project.
A source close to the development told PinkVilla, "They were contemplating on multiple names, but finally, zeroed in on Amit Sharma as the director. Sharma in the past has helmed Badhai Ho and is currently on the verge of completing the Ajay Devgn fronted sport biopic, Maidaan. The team of The Intern unanimously felt that Amit is the best choice for the film and the director too is in sync with the vision to bring the classic to India. In-fact, he has already prepared a draft for his adaptation and will develop it further once Maidaan is wrapped up in a fortnight."
Talking about the film, Deepika Padukone had earlier said, "The Intern is an intimate, relationship-driven film, set in and around the workplace; a story that I believe is very relevant to the present-day social and cultural environment. I have been looking for a light, breezy comedy-drama and this story fits in seamlessly. I cannot wait to begin this journey." On the other hand, Denzil Dias, Managing Director Warner Bros. India had added, "This is an exciting time for us to be partnering in local language production with the team at AZURE, who are passionate about film and storytelling. THE INTERN has been at the top of our list for potential adaptations and this is an enviable talent packaging for the adaptation."
