It is Rani Mukerji's birthday today and the talented-gorgeous actress turns 43. But she doesn't look 43, tbh, does she? For us, she is sometimes, Tina from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, sometimes Priya from Chalte Chalte or Rhea from Hum Tum and sometimes Shivani from Mardaani. Rani Mukerji has been in the industry for more than two decades. She has and still continues to rule hearts with her stellar body of work and acting chops. Those who have seen Rani, be it up close and personal, or as a fan, would know that Rani is not the one to mince her words. She is very bindaas when it comes to dishing out opinions and on her birthday today, we thought of compiling her bold statements. Rani Mukerji is unapologetically honest, and we love her that way. Kissing scene with Kamal Haasan
Rani Mukerji worked with Kamal Haasan in Hey Ram. The two had a kissing scene in the movie. However, as per Rani, it lacked passion. She had went on to say, "The kiss with Kamal Haasan (in Hey Ram (2000)) was mechanical. He was constantly checking the right angle. Where was the passion?"
Chalte Chalte and replacing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Rani Mukerji was asked about replacing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chalte Chalte. The actress clarified that she was always the first choice for the film. "As a matter of fact, and I have said this before, I was the original choice for this role. Shah Rukh spoke to me about the film during Asoka. I didn't have dates, so Ash replaced me. When she couldn't do the film for whatever reason, Shah Rukh asked me to do it. I love Aamir and Shah Rukh in a different way. When Shah Rukh asks, I can't say no."
When she said not to link her with Vivek Oberoi
Being in this profession, Rani Mukerji was linked to a lot of her co-stars. However, when she was linked to Vivek Oberoi with whom she worked in Saathiya, she had said, "I have been linked with all my heroes from Vivek Oberoi to Govinda. I deal with the controversies because it's a part of my profession, and I am not having an affair with anyone. They try to link me up so that I come across as a little more interesting for the viewers. Linking me with other stars is OK, but not Vivek!"
Not friends with Preity Zinta
Rani Mukerji and Preity Zinta have worked in several films together. Reports of them being besties started doing the rounds. However, Rani squashed them saying, "Preity Zinta and I have always shared a good working relationship. We were never great pals, but we vibe so well on-screen that to the media and outsiders it appears that we are great friends in real life, too."
On her fallout with Abhishek Bachchan
Rani Mukerji was deeply hurt when Abhishek Bachchan did not invite her to his wedding. Pouring her heart out, she had said, "The truth is if someone chooses not to invite you to their wedding you realize where you stand with that person. You may be deluded and think you are friends but maybe that friendship was only extended as co-stars on the sets. It doesn't matter. It became very clear to me that we were only co-stars not friends."
On Salman Khan-Vivek Oberoi row
Having worked with both Salman and Vivek, the actress was asked to comment on their row. She had said, "This really doesn't have much to do with me so I can hardly comment on it. But from my side I can say that Salman was and always will be a sweet co-star and friend of mine and I don't believe in the accusations made against him. However, you have to hand it to him for handling the situation so well. Vivek and I were co-stars in Saathiya and I guess our chemistry worked but personally I'm not close to him. He's my brother's friend from school, not mine."
