People like to target this belt immensely. Stories woven around Maharashtra, West Bengal or South India are rare. The reason is simple. There are a number of daily soaps in these regional languages for the audience. Also, the viewership is kind of distinct. But, Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin is scoring high on TRPs charts despite being set in a Maharashtrian background. This is not the first time though. We have seen successes like Laagi Tujhse Lagan and of course, Pavitra Rishta, a blockbuster hit. Let us take a look at few shows....
Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin
The show from Star Plus is topping the TRP charts. It is a Hindi remake of the hit Bengali show, Kusum Dola. Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin is set in the town of Nagpur and has Maharashtrian characters, Sai Joshi (Ayesha Singh) and Virat Chavan (Neil Bhatt). The show starts off from Gadchiroli, which is a known Naxal area. Aishwarya Sharma plays Patralekha the third wheel in the love story of Virat and Sai. The Bengali show is a blockbuster, and this one is also winning over the audiences. The makers have roped in a number of well-known Marathi artists for the serial.
Tujhse Hai Raabta
People love the show because of the bonds between the main characters, Malhar (Sehban Azim), Kalyani (Reem Shaikh) and Anupriya (Poorva Gokhale). Tujhse Hai Raabta is set in the town of Aurangabad in Maharashtra. Fans love the lead pair of Malhar and Kalyani. The show has a number of Maharashtrian actors.
Pavitra Rishta
It has been six years since Pavitra Rishta went off air but even the reruns have a loyal following. The whole of India could relate to the love story between Manav Deshmukh (Late Sushant Singh Rajput) and Archana (Ankita Lokhande), two simple, God-fearing and family-oriented people. The resonance of the show made it a blockbuster garnering TRPs and awards by the dozen. The ensemble cast of Savita Tai (Usha Nadkarni), Sulochana (Savita Prabhune) and Parag Tyagi also got immense love.
Wagle Ki Duniya
The sitcom aired on Doordarshan and was a huge success. Anjan Srivastav, Bharati Achrekar and Virendra Saxena played major roles. It was based on RK Laxman's work, about the situations in the life of a middle class man.
Laagi Tujhse Lagan
Mahhi Vij became a household name as Nakusha with the show. Mishal Raheja was the main male lead as Dutta Patil. Both the actors got a lot of appreciation for their performances. Paresh Rawal and Swaroop Sampat were the makers of the show.
