Malayalam actress Ahaana Krishna has reacted to the speculations that she was removed from Prithviraj Sukumaran's Bhramam's because of her dad's political leanings. The movie directed by Ravi K Chandran is the Malayalam remake of Andhadhun. She decided to end the rumours via social media. She said that she has not blamed anyone for her exit from the movie. Some media outlets reported that Ahaana's father Krishna Kumar who is a member of BJP alleged that his daughter was removed as he was associated with the right wing party. Ahaana Krishna said on Instagram on Tuesday, "Just keep me away from it (news). I am not even in the picture, I have not blamed anyone. Some who spoke might be related to me, but it is always another person's opinion. Don't count me in. I have nothing to do with this drama."
The film, Bhramam is being made by Open Book Productions. The firm issued a long statement to the press saying that actors and technicians were not selected as per their political leanings. The statement read, "It has come to our notice through the media that Ahaana was removed from some movies based on political stands. If the allegation has meant Bhramam which is produced by Open Book Productions, we strongly disagree with this."
They also clarified that Ahaana Krishna was initially considered for the project, but was clearly told that a final decision would happen only after costume trial and camera test. The statement further read, "We had also told her not to reveal that she was being considered for the movie until a final decision was taken. Unfortunately, her name surfaced in some media."
It seems she was shooting for more movie and it got extended post which she contracted COVID-19. The costume trial and test was held on January 10 for the actress. They said the makers did not find her suitable for the character, and she was informed about it officially. The statement said, "As professionals with more than a combined experience of 100 years in cinema we believe and take all precautions that the art of cinema should be untouched by discrimination based on caste, creed, gender, religion or politics. We are deeply pained by assumptions that our film was being spoken of here and also regret that the other members of the cast and crew including the lead actor have been drawn into the issue."
They said that Prithviraj Sukumaran has no say in the casting of the movie. She has also given him a clean chit saying she has way too much respect for him. Bhramam also stars Raashi Khanna, Unni Mukundan and Mamta Mohandas in main roles.
