The Desi Girl of Bollywood, Priyanka Chopra is currently making a mark at the global with her acting mettle and philanthropic work. While the actress has emerged as one of the biggest superstars of Bollywood, she always revealed that her father was her biggest cheerleader. Ashok Chopra, who battled with cancer for several years, breathed his last on June 10, 2013. 3-4 months before he passed away, Ashok attended the TOIFA awards, where his daughter was nominated for the best actress for her performance in Barfi.
During an interaction at Jaipur Literature Festival's virtual meet, the actress described that night and said it was very brave for him to give a speech on behalf of her after actress' win. Priyanka said, "That night, he was a very brave man. I remember that day, he was putting all of his packets in which the liquids go inside your body and he was always on a wheelchair. As soon as we arrived at the venue, he instead to get up from his wheelchair and walk. And after convincing, he made it. I won that award and I asked him to come on stage with me. He came and walked up on the stage and I remember the hosts coming towards him and helping him, but he was like no I will do it. It took him 10 minutes but people were patient. Everyone stood up when he walked up the stage. He gave a speech and he said thank you so much for choosing an actor tonight and I was like ya he is my dad standing up for me one more time."
The actress had also spoke about Nick Jonas' first meet with Madhu Chopra, which was an awkward moment as Madhu Chopra was in a nighty. The Agneepath actress said, "It was not supposed to be an introduction to parents. I forgot that she'd be up. And she still teases me about it. I forgot to call her because it was 1 o'clock at night and we were like 10 minutes away. So by the time we took the decision of coming to my house, we were already there."
She added, "My mother was so shocked! It was 1 o'clock at night, she is wearing is nightie and we won't forget this because it was weird for me as well. You are bringing a guy home, it was like kind of strange, and she jumps out of bed terrified. She was like, "Oh! One second". She goes to her bathroom and starts wearing lipstick. She calls me in and says, "Why didn't you tell me? I am not going to come out!" I said if you are not coming out then why are you putting your lipstick on?
