This is certainly a new thing that we are seeing in Indian films. There are many universes being planned. What's a universe? Well, according to Wikipedia, "A shared universe or shared world is a fictional universe from a set of creative works where more than one writer (or other artist) independently contributes a work that can stand alone but fits into the joint development of the storyline, characters, or world of the overall project." You might've heard of Hollywood's MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). Now, the same thing is being tried here for the Indian audience. Let's take a look at some of the upcoming universes of Bollywood.
Rohit Shetty's cop universe
While it might not have started as a universe initially, Rohit Shetty has now made a cop universe of his films. Singham (2011), Singham Returns (2014), Simmba (2018), Sooryavanshi (2021) and Singham 3 (2023) are a part of the universe. We can see some of rhe key characters in the films in which they are not playing the protagonist but come together to create an intersecting storyline. Akshay Kumar was seen in Simmba and so was Ajay Devgn. Sherry also plans to introduce a female cop into this universe soon.
Dinesh Vijan's ghost universe
Well, a universe of ghost films certainly sounds interesting. Stree, Roohi, Bhediya and Munja are a part of it. Dinesh Vijan revealed in an interview that there will be Stree, Roohi, Bhediya and Munja and the characters will start meeting towards the end. And in some they will cross paths. Then maybe you will see them and eventually they all will come together.
Yash Raj Films' spy universe
According to reports, YRF is planning its own spy universe. Reportedly, Salman Khan as Tiger is set to make a cameo in Pathan and Shah Rukh Khan will have a cameo in Tiger 3. SRK and Salman Khan will reportedly join Hrithik Roshan in War 2. It will surely be a treat to watch these biggies coming together on screen.
