AR Rahman to compose music for Ishaan Khatter and Murnal Thakur's war film, Pippa

The introduction of music maestro AR Rahman could take forever. It's a proud and awestruck feeling to have been born in the era to be able to enjoy Rahman's music. And while he has a lot of regional films in his kitty for composition, here's AR Rahman's first Bollywood project after Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi starrer Dil Bechara. For the unversed when Dil Bechara had released, the Oscar, BAFTa, Grammy winner and several other awards recipient had opened up on not doing many Bollywood projects. AR Rahman had said that Mukesh Chhabra, the director of Dil Bechara had revealed stories being circulated about him in the industry. That's when he understood that there's a 'gang' working against him due to which he has been making so less music for the Hindi film industry. Talking about his latest Bollywood project, AR Rahman would compose music for Ishaan Khatter, Mrunal Thakur and Priyanshu Painyuli's Pippa, a war film.

"The story of 'Pippa' has a very human connect. It's about every family, and I instantly related with it. I am looking forward to working with Raja Krishna Menon, Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur," Rahman said in a statement. Producer Ronnie Screwvala said, "Patriotic and inspiring music has been A.R. Rahman's forte since the beginning of his iconic career," while adding, "We are happy to welcome the maestro onto team 'Pippa.' Collaborating with him has always resulted in spectacular albums and I'm inclined to believe that his music will be the beating heart of our film."

"What distinguishes the music of A.R. Rahman is that it brings so much depth and feeling to the narrative, that it always elevates the characters and the storytelling," Siddharth Roy Kapur added. Talking about Pippa, the film is based on the book 'The Burning Chaffees,' written by Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta. Ishaan will essay the role of Brigadier Mehta of the 45th Cavalry tank squadron who fought on India's eastern front during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971, which led to the creation of Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, on the work front, AR Rahman has 99 Songs, Le Musk, Ponniyin Selvan and Aadu Jeevitham to name a few.
