There's no doubt that Sushant Singh Rajput had an impressive graph in his acting career spanning just over 7 years. His successful transition from TV to feature films (after Shah Rukh Khan) has paved a way for actors who are aspiring to work on cross platforms. From being a heartthrob to an out-an-out entertainer, Sushant Singh Rajput made his mark with his stellar performances in films such as Kai Po Che, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Kedarnath and Chhichhore to name a few. However, like any other actor, Sushant, too, had rejected a few films that went on to be big hits. Let's take a look
Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela/ Bajirao Mastani/ Padmaavat
When Sanjay Leela Bhansali was questioned by the Mumbai Police during the investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput's death, it came to light that the actor has turned down three major films of his Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat due to the unavailability of dates. All the movies eventually went to Ranveer Singh, and he never looked back.
In 2015, Chetan Bhagat had tweeted that Sushant was going to a part of Half Girlfriend, an adaptation of the author's novel by the same name. But Sushant was eventually replaced by Arjun Kapoor because the former had to drop out of the film because of scheduling conflicts.
Sushant was the first choice to play Noor in Abhishek Kapoor's Fitoor. But major delays forced the actor to opt out of the film. Soon after, Aditya Roy Kapur was roped in.
RAW: Romeo Akbar Walter
Sushant had dropped out of RAW: Romeo Akbar Walter despite being the face of the film. He had shared the posters of the film in 2017 on social media as well. But due to his busy schedule, Sushant had to turn down the project and he also reportedly returned the signing amount of Rs. 4 crore to the makers. Later, John Abraham replaced Sushant as the lead.
Chanda Mama Door Ke
Months after preparing for the role of an astronaut in Chanda Mama Door Ke at the NASA space centre, Sushant had walked out of the film citing date issues.
Anurag Kashyap had revealed that he had approached Sushant Singh Rajput's for his production, Hasee Toh Phasee, alongside Parineeti Chopra. But Sushant had signed a 3-film deal with YRF and dropped out of his film for Shuddh Desi Romance. The role was then went to Sidharth Malhotra.
Anurag Kashyap had again offered Sushant, Mukkabaaz, in 2016, before the release of MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. But the filmmaker said that after Dhoni became a hit, Sushant never called him back. Anurag went on to do Mukkabaaz with Vineet Kumar Singh and Sushant chose to do Karan Johar's Drive alongside Jacqueline Fernandez.
