Thalapathy Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi's Master, which released during the Pongal weekend continues to shatter the records at the box office. Despite the COVID-19 crisis and 50 per cent capacity of the cinema halls, the entertainer attracted the audience in the theatres and has now entered the Rs 200 crore at the global box office. While the global collections stand at Rs 205 crore, Tamil Nadu has contributed Rs 105 crore out of it. Apart the dominating the domestic market, Master has performed exceedingly well in the international markets at raked in Rs 45 crore at the overseas box office.
While the film has turned out to be winner at the ticket windows, the recent news suggested that the film will be remade in Hindi as the Kabir Singh producer, Murad Khetani has reportedly bought the rights of the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial. As per the PinkVilla report, a source said, "Around two weeks back, Murad along with the team of Endemol visited Chennai for a special screening of Master, after coordinating with the producers of Tamil original. They loved the film and decided to bankroll it in Hindi. This meeting led to paperwork and the producers now officially have the Hindi remake rights under their kitty. They have bagged the rights for a hefty sum."
The source added, "Like Tamil, Murad and co are planning to cast two top stars from Bollywood for the Hindi remake as well. However, they will start approaching the actors on having a director on board. Be assured, this will be among the biggest casting coups in recent times." Produced under the banner of XB Films, the film also stars Malavika Mohanan, Arjun Das, Andrea Jeremiah and Shanthanu Bhagyaraj. The music of the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
