Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do touched several hearts by showcasing the life of a dysfunctional family in the film back in 2015. And it happens to be one of the favourites of many because of interesting characters and narration. It featured Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma to name a few in the key roles. Anil Kapoor played father to Priyanka and Ranveer. However, despite being in the industry for such a long time, Anil Kapoor was hesitant to play father to the desi girl, Priyanka Chopra. Yes, you read that right. It was his song Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor to take up the role.
While talking to Tiffin talks, Anil Kapoor revealed that he was not keen on playing a father to a heroine who he was supposed to be paired with for a romantic film. The actor also reasoned that he had been brave with his choices since he started working in the industry. "But my issue was I am being very honest. I was like, 'Priyanka Chopra's father, yaar!' We were supposed to do films where I was romantically with her. I thought, 'Ranveer Singh phir bhi newcomer hai yaar'," the Race actor said.
Revealing how his son convinced him to play the role as he is not her real father but just on-screen. "Harsh came to me and said, 'You are not actually her father, you are playing a role.' Sometimes, you need such broad-minded and forward-thinking people around you who put sense into you. I thought, 'Things have changed now, it's you playing a character. You are not actually her father'," Anil Kapoor added.
Talking about Anil's work front, the actor was recently seen in AK vs AK. He has Jug Jugg Jeeyo in the pipeline alongside Neetu Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani and Prajakta Koli aka MostlySane. He also has Karan Johar's ensemble cast period drama film, Takht in the pipeline. What do you have to say about Anil Kapoor's revelation? Let us know by tweeting @bollywood_life.
