As our year-ender tradition of polls dictate, BollywoodLife had asked y'all to choose the best of the best from various categories. Today, we are declaring the results for the Best South Actress poll that we did. And beating the pretty Rashmika Mandanna is none other than another gorgeous actress, Samantha Akkineni, for Jaanu.
Despite not receiving as expected a response, Samantha Akkineni's portrayal of Jaanu in Jaanu, a remake of Trisha Krishnan and Vijay Sethupathi's '96, has been crowned as the winner of our #BLBestof2020 poll. Following Samantha is Rashamika Mandanna with 21% of the votes for Bheeshma. Next is Aparna Balamurali for Soorarai Pottru. She played Bommi to Suriya's Maara and secured 19% votes. With 15% votes, Pooja Hedge has grabbed the fourth spot in the poll for her portrayal of Amulya in Allu Arjun starrer Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. Jyothika, who played the role of a fierce lawyer in Ponmagal Vandhal, bagged only 10% of the votes while Keerthy Suresh's portrayal of a distraught mother got a mere 9% votes. On that note, did you know that Samantha Akkineni likes Rashmika Mandanna a lot and had heaped praises on the hard-working young actress back in May last year? On the work front, Samantha is busy promoting The Family Man 2 in Mumbai. Last year, Samantha had opened up on OTT platforms giving more opportunities. "OTT gives us an opportunity to break rules. I've broken a lot of rules with The Family Man (Season) 2, and really experimented with something extremely new," she had said. "I am very happy with the product and with the output. It's going to be a good surprise for everyone who is used to seeing me do a particular type of role," Samantha had added on the new season.
