Last week we saw Diljit Dosanjh and Kangana Ranaut fighting it out on Twitter. It all started when Diljit hit out at Kangana for misidentifying an elderly Sikh woman from the farmers' protest as Bilkis Bano of Shaheen Bagh and said the woman had joined the protest for Rs 100. While Kangana deleted her tweet, the damage had been done. The very fact that she had to delete her tweet proved that it was fake. Instead of apologising or just accepting that her information was wrong, she started a personal attack on Diljit. This is a pathetic thing that most trolls do. When they can't defend themselves with factual information, they start getting personal. On the other hand, Diljit was spot on and graceful in his replies. He never once got personal and stuck to facts.
We are at a very crucial juncture as far as the fabric of our country is concerned. The farmers are protesting amid a pandemic. The last thing we need is celebs like Kangana Ranaut, who have a wide reach, spreading misinformation. Hate against anyone or anything, without any good reason, is just unwarranted. In such times, we need care and love, not hate.
It seems that Kangana has lost her objective thinking. She seems to have become like a classic troll who only wants attention and all his/her efforts are to get attention. Facts be damned, grace be damned. This is not just restricted to this Diljit episode. It's been happening since Sushant Singh Rajput's demise. She has accused several people without any kind of evidence. This kind of behaviour does more harm than good.
Apart from being on Twitter (which is also helpful), and standing up for what he believes in, Diljit also donated Rs 1 crore for the cause with the intention of providing blankets and other materials to farmers protesting in the chilly winters of Delhi at this time. Solidarity and sensitivity are all that we need.
