These are uncertain times, to be honest. And resuming work becomes a risk when the pandemic is at large. Fall ill in these uncertain times can be risky. And that's what has happened. Reports are rife that Mithun Chakraborty fell ill during the shoot of his next, Kashmir Files which was being shot in Mussorie. And as a result, the shoot of The Kashmir Files came to an abrupt halt. As per a report in Mid-Day, the actor suddenly collapsed on an outdoor shooting schedule. Yes, you read that right. And following the protocol, director Vivek Agnihotri was about to call it a day but the veteran actor insisted on completing the shot.
"It was an action scene, mounted on a big scale, and everything was centred on Mithun sir's character. He had a terrible bout of food poisoning and was unable to even stand. After taking a brief break, he finished the sequence," the director informed Mid-Day. He praised Mithun Chakraborty for his work ethics and said, "He told me that in his four-decade-plus career, he has never fallen ill on set. It was evident that all he kept thinking was that the shoot should not be halted."
After completing the scene, the whole unit wrapped up. And the director revealed that when the actor returned to the set the next day, he worked hard to catch up on the backlog. "When he returned to the set on Sunday morning, he ensured that he made up for the backlog," Vivek Agnihotri added. Talking about Kashmir Files, apart from Mithun Chakraborty, the film also stars Anupam Kher and Puneet Issar.
Puneet Issar has replaced Yograj Singh, Yuvraj Singh's father in the film. A source had informed Mid-Day, "A day before the shooting of the film, director Vivek Agnihotri received actor Yograj Singh's video of the blasphemous speech and Agnihotri was shocked. He couldn't tolerate someone slamming women and to make it worse, Singh tried to create a hateful decisive narrative. At that moment he decided Yograj cannot be part of The Kashmir Files. He had sent Yograj an official termination letter due to which the director suffered a big financial loss. To avoid losing time, Agnihotri made a last minute call to Puneet Issar and asked him to step aboard."
