Kangana Ranaut gained 20 kgs for her role in Thalaivi, reveals her fitness trainer Yogesh Bhateja [Exclusive]

Kangana Ranaut recently wrapped up the shooting for Thalaivi. For those not in the know, Thalaivi is a multilingual biographical drama film based on the life of former Tamil actress and politician J Jayalalithaa. Kangana Ranaut had shared a few stills from the shoot of Thalaivi on the late politician's death anniversary. In the pictures, we see Kangana having put a considerable amount of weight for her role in Thalaivi. For the same, we got in touch with the actress's fitness trainer, Yogesh Bhateja and he revealed that Kangana is not only passionate about her work but also about fitness and everything she decides to take up.

"For her role of Amma since Jayalalithaa ma'am was not leaner, Kangana Ranaut gained a lot. For her look in the movie, she almost gained 20 kgs," Yogesh revealed. When asked about her training since gaining weight can affect the body, Yogesh said, "I actually tried to keep her a little active because when you gain 20 kgs, it's a burden on your joints and on your system. It also affects your breathing, sleeping pattern. It's like a 360-degree change of your body. So, I tried to keep her more active, more flexible and functional without losing weight as was required."

"Gaining weight was not a task. But to gain it aesthetically so that you don't just gain weight on specific body part or out of shape was a little difficult. The task was to be in the shape but look bulky aesthetically," the physical trainer, who has also trained Kapil Sharma, Sonu Sood, Tamannaah and more, said. Talking about being Kangana's trainer, Yogesh said, "She was very supportive and when I was training her, I felt like I am training an athlete. She is very active, very strong, focused and determined."

Talking about the pictures, Kangana Ranaut had hailed the late politician and her team for their efforts in bringing her alive on celluloid. Recently, Kangana wrapped up the film and penned a heartfelt note as she bid adieu to the character based on real life personality. "And it's a wrap, today we successfully completed the filming of our most ambitious project Thalaivi- the revolutionary leader, rarely an actor finds a character that comes alive in flesh and blood and I fall in love so hard but now suddenly it's time to say bye, mixed feelings," Kangana wrote while sharing a picture of herself as Thalaivi and a throwback picture of late Jayalalithaa.
