2020 Recap: Sushant Singh Rajput, Irrfan Khan, Rishi Kapoor and 9 other Bollywood celebs who passed away this year

Calling 2020 terrible would be an understatement. The Coronavirus pandemic hit us in ways we never imagined. So many people were impacted and to make things worse, we lost numerous celebs leaving us with a feeling of emptiness. Here's a look at the Bollywood celebs who are no longer with us.

Sushant Singh Rajput

It is still difficult to believe he is no longer with us. It feels as if he will be back to entertain us with a new film. The actor passed away on June 14. He was just 34 and his body was found at his Bandra apartment. The CBI and NCB were handling his case.

Irrfan Khan

He was one the finest actors we had. He used his big eyes to express effectively. He passed away on April 29 after a prolonged battle with Cancer. His last film, Angrezi Medium released in theatres just before the lockdown started. He has left a huge void.

Rishi Kapoor

He was one terrific actor who died of leukaemia on April 30 at the age of 67. He underwent treatment in the US for a year. Khel Khel Mein (1975), Kabhi Kabhie (1976), Sargam (1979), Karz (1980), and Chandni (1989) are some his memorable films.

Wajid Khan

Wajid Khan, of composer duo Sajid-Wajid, passed away on June 1 due to cardiac arrest. He was just 42. Along with Sajid, he gave some fantastic music in films like Tere Naam, Tumko Na Bhool Payenge, and Partner.

Nimmi

Yesteryear actress Nimmi passed away on March 25 at the age of 87. She was unwell for quite some time and this was the reason behind her death followed by a heart attack.

Saroj Khan

The ace choreographer passed away on July 3 due to cardiac arrest. Her film career spanned more than 60 years and she was fondly called Masterji.

Jagdeep

Just a few days after Saroj Khan's death, we lost ace actor and comedian Jagdeep on July 8. He was 81 and some of his notable films included Sholay, Andaz Apna Apna and Purana Mandir.

Asif Basra

The talented actor was found dead in a private complex in Dharamshala on November 12. He was found hanging. He was seen in several films like Krrish 3, Fanney Khan, Kai Po Che and Lamhaa to name a few.

SP Balasubrahmanyam

The legendary singer passed away on September 25. He was tested positive for COVID-19 and had other health issues as well due to which he was hospitalised. He was laid to rest with full state honours on September 26.

Nishikant Kamat

The Drishyam and Force filmmaker passed away on August 17 at the age of 50. He had been suffering from chronic liver disease.

Kumkum

Mother India, Ujala and Kohinoor actress Kumkum passed away at the age of 86. Her death was confirmed by Johnny Walker's son, actor Nasirr Khan on Twitter.

While they are no longer with us physically, they will remain immortal due to the remarkable work that they did.
