Tuesday Trivia: Did you know birthday boy Salim Khan had shared screen space with future wife Helen before turning scriptwriter? — watch video

Salman Khan's father, Salim Khan saab, formed one-half of Bollywood's most celebrated and iconic scriptwriting duos ever (the other half being Javed Akhtar saab). However, did you know that Salim saab had also acted in a film before turning scriptwriter and before his association with Javed Akhtar began, with the film in question being one of Hindi cinema's biggest hits and most loved thrillers? What's more, he had even shared screen space with future wife Helen in the movie. Scratching your head? Well, let's lift the curtain over the unbearable suspense. The film we're referring to is none other than Director Vijay Anand's masterpiece, Teesri Manzil (1966), starring the legendary Shammi Kapoor and the evergreen Asha Parekh.

Wondering now where he appeared in it? Well, it was at the beginning of the memorable chartbuster, O Haseena Zulfonwali Jaane Jahan (0:18-0:30; watch the video above), and of course we all know how Shammiji and Helen aunty rocked the joint in the song to the captivating tunes of R.D. Burman and the golden voices of Mohammed Rafi and Asha Bhosle. With it being Salim Khan's birthday today he turns 85 we couldn't think of a better opportunity to share this rare trivia with you. Happy birthday, Salim saab. Another bonus trivia: This blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo by Salim saab also paved the way for one of Salim-Javed's legendary scripts, Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973), which was directed by Nasir Hussain, the producer and writer of Teesri Manzil.
