He further says that Soorarai Pottru is a pan-India film because it is inspired by Captain Gopinath who made flying a reality for many. "It is a great story. In the movie, a common man decides to how another common man can fly in a thousand bucks. It is a tale of the triumph of human spirit in a positive manner. It is a tale of a man who reaches great height through his dream and labour and not in an illicit way," he adds.
Suriya one of the top stars of the Tamil film industry. Paresh Rawal is all praise for him. He elaborates, "Suriya is a fantastic co-artiste. He is a megastar but he is humble, rooted, grounded and down-to-earth. And he is fully prepared when he comes on set. He knows his dialogues, nuances and is thoroughly prepared. He was very patient with me. He knew I was going to fumble with my Tamil dialogues, but he was never agitated or anxious. The unit made me feel very comfortable, and it felt like I was working in Bollywood." He further says that Suriya and he discussed films. "I have worked with Jyothika. She is a brilliant actress. We worked together in Priyadarshan's Doli Saja Ke Rakhna. In general, South people are familiar with world cinema and Hindi films, so we had a lot to talk about," says Paresh.
The veteran says that director Sudha Kongara was rather strict and did not give him any leeway. "They are extremely professional people. I wanted a few lines in English, but she was like no Pareshji, speak in Tamil. They are taskmasters. The unit never fumbled or stumbled. Sudha is always in control, and her team is like an well-oiled machinery. There is no shouting, as it is always in control," he states. He says he worked hard with her assistants to master his dialogues, writing them in English and learning them by rote. "There was Arjunan and one more boy, I harassed them a lot," he says.
Paresh Rawal also spoke about how this is a time to restructure the industry, in terms of costs to tide over this bad phase. Talking about films coming on OTT, he says, "See, for how long people can wait. They have invested big money in the movies. But one should not forget that OTT cannot replace big screen entertainment. It is not an alternative. We need to considers costs and restructure financing. I heard that top stars of the Telugu industry have slashed fees by 40 per cent to accommodate producers' concerns. This is done so that the industry does not suffer. No one can think selfishly. We need a correction even in Bollywood."
The movie that everyone is waiting for is Hera Pheri 3. "Honestly, we do not know when work will start. It will definitely be made. I have no idea about the director and writer. Like the audience, I am also waiting," he says. It is a known fact that the actor's better half Swaroop Sampat is a fab actress. Fans have been wanting to see them together for a long time. "I would love to act with her. If we get a good script, it will surely happen," he says.
