Ever since Payal Ghosh has called out filmmaker Anurag Kashyap on MeToo, alleging that he tried to force himself on her. She filed a case against the filmmaker and he was charged with rape allegation by the Versova Police. He had been summoned in the matter a couple of days ago. After hours of questioning, he had left, denying Payal's allegation, again. When Payal had opened up on her ordeal she had named quite a few actresses like Huma Qureshi, Richa Chadha in her statement. The two actresses had bashed Payal for maligning their image in public. Richa had even served the actress with a notice. And now, as per the latest development, Richa has filed a defamation suit against Payal Ghosh and Kamaal R Khan.
The defamation suit also includes a new channel for allegedly making derogatory statements about her. She has sought Rs. 1.10 in damages from them. Yes, you read that right. The Fukrey Returns actress has also filed a restraining order against the two of them and some unknown others reports Mumbai Mirror. The actress has also sought the removal of defamatory videos and tweets and has even asked for a public apology on their social media platforms and their respective websites.
In her petition, The Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela actress said that the defamatory remarks continued even after she sent them a legal notice. As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, Richa Chadha has called out Payal saying it was "evil and misogynistic," on her part to comment on her appearance. The actress claimed that she has "lynch" her hard-earned reputation to wrongfully gain publicity.
On the other hand, Kamaal R Khan not only posted the interview of Payal on his social media handle but also passed a slew of defamatory tweets to it. A hearing was supposed to take place in front of Justice AK Menon in Bombay High Court on Monday. It was adjourned till 7th October as the advocates for the defendants failed to appear in front of the court. The report further states that the court has allowed Richa to serve the parties with another notice.
