Noted television and film actor, Rohit Roy blames himself for not working enough in the industry. In an interview, the actor claimed that early on during his stint on television the success went to his head and he became quite arrogant. He added that he did not work hard enough to hone his skills as he should have. Rohit played the role of Rishabh Malhotra in Swabhimaan. It was a huge hit back in 1995 and ran for three years before shutting shop. Swabhimaan was then directed by Mahesh Bhatt and Debaloy Dey.
While talking to Navbharat Times, the actor revealed that his character was as popular as Gabbar Singh from Sholay. "I had become immensely famous in a very short span because of my daily soap Swabhimaan. My character of Rishabh Malhotra was as popular as Sholay's Gabbar Singh as such a character had never been seen on Indian television before. But all that stardom got to my head and instead of working on improving my acting and other skills, I only became more arrogant," he reminisced.
He went on to add that people told him that he had the capability to overthrow Shah Rukh Khan. "People even told me that I have the potential to overthrow Shah Rukh Khan. At that time, SRK's Deewana had recently hit the theatres. Anyway, today we all know where SRK has reached in his career and life, and here I am, still struggling," he said. However, he has none but himself to blame. While he may not be the biggest star, he is happy with whatever fame he has achieved to date.
Meanwhile, Rohit was last seen in Paltan that also starred Jackie Shroff, Arjun Rampal, Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Choudhary, Harshvardhan Rane, Luv Sinha and others. He is currently gearing up for Mumbai Saga, yet another ensemble gangster drama costarring John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi, Suniel Shetty, Sharman Joshi, Kajal Aggarwal, Huma Qureshi and others.
