'Nobody rapes here,' Payal Ghosh's tweet from 2018 goes viral after she slaps #MeToo allegations on Anurag Kashyap

A couple of days ago, Payal Ghosh accused Anurag Kashyap of trying to molest her in 2014 when she had gone to meet him. She claimed that Kashyap stripped off in front of her and asked her to remove her clothes as well saying that he has slept with many actresses and some are just a call away. Kashyap, on the other hand, has denied all the allegations levelled against him by Payal calling it 'baseless.' After her shocking allegations, many celebrities including his two ex-wives have stood by Kashyap saying that he's a true feminist and can never indulge in such activities. And while Kashyap continues to garner support for the film fraternity, Payal's old tweet from 2018 has resurfaced online wherein she had questioned the accusers saying 'nobody rapes here.'

"Nobody rape here, they try to take chance if you are not comfortable, walk away as simple, no need to make so much drama," read Payal Ghosh's tweet dated October 9, 2018. Her tweet resurfaced on Twitter after she accused Kashyap of sexual harassment. The screenshots of the said tweet are now being circulated on social media. Netizens have now started questioning her credibility of her accusations against Kashyap and accused her of waiting for the opportune moment to strike.

Payal had recently claimed in an interview that she had written Anurag Kashyap's name in a tweet in 2018 during the MeToo movement. "In fact, I had tweeted about my incident some time ago when the MeToo movement had happened, but many people told me to delete the tweet else I would stop getting work. My manager too advised me to remove the tweet. I complied," she was quoted as saying by ETimes.

However, soon after her old tweet started doing the round of the internet, netizens started calling Payal's accusations against Kashyap as a publicity stunt. "Before this nobody knows payal ghosh, it's just another publicity stunt inspired by kangana. People are accusing anurag kashyap just because payal said so. No body listen to men. That's is why 60 percent rape cases in india are false cases," one Twitter user commented.

Another Twitter user wrote, "Whether @iampayalghosh was a patient of Amnesia or was she waiting 4 n opportune time ? It's her cheap effort to defame @anuragkashyap72 & others Bollywood Actresses. Just see her dual Faced standards, whereby she had preached "No Need To Make So Much DRAMA as Nobody Rape here."

One Twitter user tried to defend Payal's tweet saying that her statement 'nobody rapes here' still holds true since she claimed Kashyap made her uncomfortable and she was able to leave. "What has she said still true for her. Nobody rape here... According to her statement Anurag hadn't raped her. She said they take a chance and make you uncomfortable but you can leave. Anurag make her uncomfortable, asked for but she was able to leave," the user commented.

The MeToo movement in India had gathered momentum when Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar of sexual harassment in October 2018. Soon, many women came out in the open and narrated their ordeal on social media accusing many Bollywood celebrities. They had received a massive support from people across the country. Those who were accused were ousted from their ongoing projects and denied a right to earn their livelihood. They were declared guilty with neither a court trial nor a formal police complaint lodged against them.
