Another cat is out of the bag in the ongoing Sushant Singh Rajput case and it lifts the veil off secrets over both SSR and his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty. Showik, who has been arrested along with sister Rhea and two other accused on drug-related charges levied by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), has confessed to having procured drugs for both the aforementioned actors at the behest of his sister. According to a report on Times Now, Showik Chakraborty told the NCB in his statement under section 67 of the NDPS ACT that he repeatedly purchased drugs for both Sushant and Rhea with payments made by his sister.
Additionally, Showik also claimed that it was Sushant Singh Rajput who would ask for buds and curate marijuana from him. Furthermore, he revealed that prior to the lockdown, in March, he had got the drugs sourced through Basit Parihar after getting in touch with Zaid Vilatra, post which Samuel Miranda had scored the bud in a bag from outside a restaurant in Bandra, Mumbai.
Following Showik's arrest, his sister, Rhea Chakraborty has been arrested under various sections of the NPDS, filed by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) after her third round of questioning in as many days in a row, all lasting for 6-8 hours each. Sushant's US-based sister, Shweta Singh Kirti, who has been at the forefront, campaigning for justice for her brother and rallying public support, was among the first to react to Rhea's arrest, writing on Twitter: "God is with us."
Earlier, Rhea Chakraborty's father, Lt Col (retd) Indrajit, issued a statement, lamenting how the outrage by the public (some are calling it a witch-hunt) has led to his son, Showik's arrest, fearing that his daughter is next. Talking to India Today, he said, "Congratulations India, you have arrested my son, I'm sure next on the line is my daughter and I don't know who is next thereafter. You have effectively demolished a middle-class family. But of course, for the sake of justice, everything is justified. Jai Hind."
