Tuesday Trivia: Did you know Ranbir Kapoor walked out of THIS mega-budget period film and was replaced by Hrithik Roshan?

Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor is one of the finest actors of the current generation. While he has given memorable performances in films like Rockstar, Barfi, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Tamasha, Sanju and others, you would be surprised to know the handsome hunk had walked out of a big project and was later replaced by Hrithik Roshan. We are talking about Ashutosh Gowariker's 2008 period drama, Jodha Akbar, which didn't only turn out to be successful film at the box office, but also garnered accolades for the Super 30 actor.

During the promotion of Bombay Velvet, we saw the cast of the film, including Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma, as also Director Anurag Kashyap, playing a game of 'I Have Never'. When the question was asked that whether any of them have walked out of a film, RK held the 'I Have' card and said, "Yes, I have." When questioned about the identity of the film, he replied, "Jodha Akbar." He also added that this action upset his father, Rishi Kapoor, and since then, he never walked out of any film. This response by Ranbir surprised KJo, who said, "Of course, Jodhaa Akbar, starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan turned out to be one of the superhit films of the year. If only Ranbir had known."

Well, although Hrithik played the character of Emperor Akbar to perfection, it'd have been interesting to see Ranbir in that role as well. Fortunately, though we missed the opportunity to see RK and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan sharing the silver screen back then, the duo impressed us with their sizzling chemistry in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

On the professional front, Ranbir Kapoor will be next seen in Shamshera, which was scheduled to release in June but might get delayed due to the second wave of COVID-19. Produced under the YRF banner, the film is directed by Agneepath (2012) Karan Malhotra and also features Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor in lead roles. On the other hand, Hrithik Roshan will reportedly soon start shooting for the Vikram Vedha remake, which is also supposed to star Saif Ali Khan.
