‘Stop Shooting’: Concerned fans issue diktat to Covid-19 positive Bollywood and TV actors

There has been a sharp rise in the number of Coronavirus cases and it is being called the second wave of the deadly virus. A lot of celebrities too, have tested positive of late. Many actors and filmmakers like Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Aamir Khan, Kartik Aaryan, Manoj Bajpayee, Govinda, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Tara Sutaria, Satish Kaushik, and Maidaan director Amit Ravindernath Sharma had tested positive for Covid-19. Akshay Kumar is even hospitalised. Talking about TV, Rupali Ganguly, Narayani Shastri, Abrar Qazi, Kanchi Singh, Kanika Mann and many others have been infected by the disease.

Almost all these actors took to social media after testing positive. And there seems to be a common narrative in their post-Covid-19 positive posts. 'Despite taking all precautions, I have tested positive', they all have been claiming. In all their posts, celebs have been asking fans to take all safety precautions and advising on how to stay safe from Corona. But fans know better to feel only worried and concerned about their favourite celebs' health. In fact, most fans are in return sharing their advise for the ones recuperating from Corona. And it is to 'Stop Shooting and Stay Indoors. It is not unknown information that most of these stars have been out and about shooting or travelling. And therefore fans have are seen advising the stars to stop shooting and stay at home. Commenting on the Covid update posts of these stars, fans have been pointing out how celebs have been shooting all over the country and travelling so much, which makes staying safe nearly impossible.

Many fans are also pointing out how seeing the celebs out and about will wrongly influence people, and prevent them from taking the situation seriously. But the truth is out there. The situation is quite grim at the moment. For the first time, India crossed the 1-lakh mark in daily COVID-19 cases on Sunday. We can understand the need for Bollywood and TV celebs to be out there for work, or sometimes just for photo ops so that they are seen, written and read about. But the time demands that everyone behaves responsibly and steps out only when utmost important.

Some cricket tournaments across the world have successfully dealt with Corona by creating bio bubbles. It seems that is a difficult thing to do, when it comes to shooting for films and TV shows as there are many people involved in the process and the entire cast and crew can't be on the sets 24x7. Perhaps, the film and TV industry needs to either put such a plan in place or stop shoot for a while till the cases subside. And definitely, not step put just for the heck of it, because corona doesn't discriminate and how big or popular a star are you will not matter.
