Just when we just thought that our lives are returning to normalcy, the second wave of COVID-1 9 arrived and has made the situation awful across the country. The pandemic has again affected common people as well as the entertainment industry as we've seen the government implementing shooting restrictions and a shutdown of cinema halls to go with a regular lockdown in all other walks of life. The South film industries have somehow managed to remain largely unaffected by this till now, but we don't expect that scenario to hold up much longer. While many Bollywood films have once again postponed their releases due to the current dire situation, we see these seven South biggies soon folowing suit because of the coronavirus scare.
Acharya
Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, Kajal Aggarwal, Pooja Hegde and Sonu Sood starrer Acharya is scheduled to release on May 13. But the latest reports suggest that the makers are in to mind whether to release the film due to the rising cases across the state and country and government banning public gatherings. Apparently, the producers are weighing their options for a later release.
Narappa
Venkatesh's Narappa, which is the remake of Dhanush's Asuran, is slated to hit screens on May 14. But the makers of the film are facing a similar issue like Acharya as the producers and are in a dilemma over whether to stick to the release date or not. Directed by Srikanth Addala, the film also stars Priyamani, Karthik Rathnam, Prakash Raj, Murali Sharma and Sampath Raj in key roles.
Kurup
Dulquer Salmaan's Kurup has faced multiple obstacles during its filming and though it set to release on May 28, the makers might delay the film to avoid any kind risk for such an expensive project. Kurup is based on the life of India's longest wanted fugitive, Sukumar Kurrupu. It is bankrolled under the banner of DQ's Wayfarer Films and M-Star Entertainments, and is made on a budget of Rs. 35 crore, which is steep for a Malayalam movie, and makes the film Dulquer Salmaan's most expensive venture to date.
Major
Adivi Sesh's bilingual film is based on the life of the 2008 Mumbai attacks martyr and hero, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan. Backed by Mahesh Babu, the film is supposed to release on July 2, but looking at the current scenario, we doubt the makers will go with the planned date of release.
KGF 2
Yash and Sanjay Dutt starrer KGF 2 is currently in its post-production stage and while everyone expects it to be a record breaker, we doubt it'll break any records of it keeps its date under present circumstances. Hence, the makers might shift the film from July 16 as waiting for a situation when the government allows cinema halls to operate at 100% capacity, with people feeling safer to venture out, will help maximum box-office collections.
Radhe Shyam
Prabhas and Pooja Hegde starrer Radhe Shyam is another one among the most the highly anticipated films of the year and while the promo and posters have made everyone excited for this period love story, we doubt whether the makers will meet the target release date of July 30, especially with a large chunk of post-production is pending.
Pushpa
Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna's pan-India film is scheduled to release on August 13. While the film is almost five months away from release, the repeated halts in shooting may result in the action-thriller being delayed.
