The makers of Akkineni's fifth film, unveiled its first look and title today. Called Agent, it is directed by Surender Reddy of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy fame. It is a treat for Akhil Akkineni's fans as today also happens to be the actor's birthday.
The birthday boy took to Twitter to unveil the first look. He wrote, "PRESENTING TO YOU A NEW ME Crafted by the man himself, Mr @DirSurender ! Thank you sir, I officially surrender to Surender. Agent marks the first collaboration between the actor and director. Touted to be a spy thriller, it also stars newcomer Sakshi Vaidya as the female lead. Mohanlal is reportedly in talks to join the cast and has been offered the role of a spy.
The film was announced seven months ago. Fans have been trending hashtag #Akhil5 since the announcement for the first look. This will be the first time that Akhil and Surender are coming together. It is believed that the film's story is said to be inspired by the popular American action thriller franchise, The Bourne series.
The film will go on floors on April 11 and is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 24 this year.
Akhil will also be seen in Most Eligible Bachelor, which is directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar. The romantic drama has Pooja Hegde playing the female lead, and also stars Aamani, Eesha Rebba, Murali Sharma, Vennela Kishore, Jayaprakash and Pragathi in important roles.
